It’s been a while since we launched any new Renmen projects, but we’re now back with a great collaborative print project. Six prints, each one a collaboration between two different members of Blood Sweat Vector. They can only be bought as a set, and there’s only 20 sets available, so dash over to our shop page to find out more.

This week we’re going all soft with The Renmen Project and auctioning off these two wonderfully cute little Cavey toys handmade by London-based toymaking superstar Holly Stanway (aka A Little Stranger). Holly has made just two of these Renmen Caveys and each will be on an eBay charity auction starting Friday 8th October from midday (UK time). Both auctions will run for 7 days, so make sure you get your bids in!
As ever 100% of the sale price will go to Unicef’s Haiti Earthquake Children’s Appeal!

A little bit of Renmen

An open letter from Ben

2010 has been a pretty cool year, just 8 days into the year my wife gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, he’s called Woody, work has been pretty good, we had a lovely week’s holiday in London and the two British drivers are doing well in the Formula 1 season. All in all, 2010 has been one of the best years for me personally. So why don’t I feel 100% happy, 100% of the time? Because I’m human. Because sometimes life isn’t perfect, there’s never an all-encompassing global state of perfection, where everyone is doing okay, where everyone has the job they strive for or the family they dream of. Life, to put it mildly, can sometimes be shit.

Four magical days after Woody was born, life dealt a very cruel blow to an island population a long way away from me and my family.

We’re very excited to announce a new Renmen art piece… a beautiful custom trogon bird Droplet, made by custom-guru Anna Hamilton, aka Monstafaktory!! To mark the occasion we’ve published an interview with Anna over on Thunder Chunky, where she talks about how she made the piece.
And most important, you can of course go and bid on the item over on our charity eBay page… all proceeds going to Unicef as usual!

An exciting new contribution to the project arrived through the post box today, from the one and only, super-talented doodler-extraordinaire - Jon Burgerman! He’s very kindly filled up a book of blank postcards with a stack of hand-drawn one-off doodles, which we will be selling in our shop in the not-too-distant future… watch this space!!

In a few hours time we’ll be putting our very special postcard sets up for sale, so I thought I’d do a little post suggesting something you might want to do with these lovely items… post them to people of course!! :)

I took a set, found 10 people who would like to receive a card, wrote a nice message on them and posted them off! It results in a double-whammy bonus… cheering up a friend with a treat in through the letterbox (who doesn’t like that??), and then also helping to spread the word about Renmen, to help us earn more much-needed money.

So of course you can buy a set to keep for yourself, but also consider using them for their natural purpose… being sent!

UPDATE: you can now buy the postcards over in the Renmen shop!

The Renmen Project is proud to announce it’s latest auction item - an ultra rare, specially commissioned, engraved clutch purse from leather design specialists, Imperial Wolf Leather. (As featured above) The tan leather piece has been beautifully inscribed with a heart motif and the phrase “All you need… is love” which was famously coined by the Beatles. It’s big enough for all you cards, crisp notes or even a cheque book, so it’s practical as well super stylish.

Remember guys, this is the ONLY ONE in the whole wide world and it could be yours if you place the highest bid.

View the auction HERE. It will last for 1 week - so good luck with your bids!

Don’t forget, as always ALL proceeds go to charity, so the more bids you put in, the more money will go to a good cause!

We were very excited this morning when these beautiful screenprints turned up from super-talented illustration duo Peskimo! We have 14 signed & numbered prints and they’re going to be appearing in the Renmen shop in the near future. We’ll also be publishing some great work-in-progress shots on this blog here and also over on Thunder Chunky. So keep an eye out!

The Renmen postcards sets have now arrived from the guys at Ripe… they look incredible! To re-cap, it’s 10 different postcards designed by 10 different artists, all specially produced for these Renmen cards. We should hopefully add these to the Renmen shop in the next few days!

'Renmen' is the Haitian word for Love, the bird in the logo is the Hispaniolan Trogon, the national bird of Haiti. 'The Renmen Project' has been brought together by the team at Thunder Chunky and Ben The Illustrator in order to raise funds for UNICEF's Haiti Appeal.

Throughout 2010 we will be working with a selection of top artists and designers from around the world to create artwork which we will be selling online. Every penny made from art sales will be going to Unicef's appeal fund.
